Advancing hydrogen storage for real-world
deployment

Hydrogen Technology Mauritius is developing advanced storage technology, designed to support make hydrogen more practical, transportable and commercially relevant.

Addressing a critical storage challenge

Hydrogen continues to gain strategic importance across high-demand energy applications.

But its broader commercial viability still depends on one core issue: storage.

Hydrogen Technology Mauritius is developing a proprietary metal hydride-based approach designed to help address that challenge.

Where current pathways fall short

01
Pressure

Compression is limited by the weight and volume of container walls.

02
Temperature

Liquefaction requires cryogenic control and suffers from bleeding losses.

03
Toxicity

Ammonia as a hydrogen carrier (especially in large volumes) adds risk in view of its extreme toxicity.

04
Complexity

Traditional metal hydride tanks and systems are complex and waste space.

Our focus

Hydrogen Technology Mauritius is focused on developing an advanced hydrogen storage based on our proprietary metal hydride system technology.

The company is actively engaged in the development of our proprietary approach which reduces the weight and space required to utilise metal hydrides to store hydrogen.

The technology is currently subject to intellectual property protection, full technical disclosure is not published publicly.

Application relevance

Better hydrogen storage has implications across a wide range of future-facing sectors.

Global hydrogen supply chains

With relevance to international transport, storage and future hydrogen trade (intercontinental hydrogen import and export).

Yellow equipment

These require large stores of on-board energy to allow high power output over an entire work shift.

Long-haul logistics

Long-haul trucks typically need an on-board energy store capable of powering them for extremely long distances. Trains also require enough on-board energy to supply extremely high power demands for days at a time.

Maritime

Ships require energy to power weeks long voyages.

Led by a focused technical and commercial team

Hydrogen Technology Mauritius brings together technical innovation, strategic direction and commercial ambition around one of hydrogen’s most important challenges.
